Data controller

Marian Ovidiu Hutanu, reachable at marian@marianhutanu.it.

What data

Browsing data: when you visit the site, the Hostinger server hosting it records, as with any website, your device’s IP address, the type of browser, the page requested, and the date and time. The site uses no profiling cookies or analytics.

Request data, if you get in touch: through the form, the type of project, your name, email address and message; by email, your address, the message and any attachments.

When you send the form, the server counts the requests coming from the same IP address, to limit automated sending. It doesn’t store the address, only a fingerprint (a hash) computed with a secret key, with the time of each request. Beyond 5 requests in 10 minutes, the form asks you to email me instead.

While you type in the form, your browser keeps a draft in this tab, so you don’t lose it if you open this page. The draft stays on your device and is deleted once you send the form or close the tab.

Why, and on what basis

Request data is used only to reply to you and, if you wish, to discuss possible work. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the GDPR).

Browsing data and the IP address fingerprint are used to show you the site and protect it from abuse. The legal basis is the controller’s legitimate interest in running a working, secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

There is no automated decision-making or profiling.

If you don’t provide your data

Providing request data is optional, but without the details the form asks for I can’t reply to you. Browsing data is needed to show you the site.

Who receives it

Besides the controller, your data passes through Hostinger International Ltd., based in the European Union, which hosts the site and provides the controller’s mailbox. Hostinger’s servers receive browsing data, requests sent through the form, which the server delivers to the controller’s mailbox, and emails you write directly.

Your data is never sold or used for marketing.

How long

Requests: up to 12 months from the last exchange if no work follows; if it does, for the length of the working relationship and then for as long as the law requires. After that they are deleted.

Browsing data: for as long as Hostinger keeps its server logs.

The IP address fingerprint: it counts for 10 minutes, then it is deleted at the next request to the form. The secret key is replaced at the first request of each new day, and all fingerprints are deleted with it.

Your rights

You can ask at any time to access, correct or delete your data, restrict its processing, and receive the data you provided in a commonly used format so you can pass it on to someone else (portability). You can also object to the processing of browsing data and of the IP address fingerprint, both based on legitimate interest. Just write to marian@marianhutanu.it.

You can also lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or with the supervisory authority of the country where you live or work.
